Voice chat that answers to you.
Weave is a Discord-style voice & text chat app you run on your own hardware. Your server, your users, your rules — no ads, no data harvesting, no company standing between your community and itself.
Why we built Weave
We didn't leave Discord because it's popular. We left because of what popularity did to it.
Your ID isn't worth the convenience
In October 2025, a breach at a third-party Discord support vendor exposed roughly 70,000 users' government ID photos, names and support conversations. Months later, Discord pushed a mandatory face-scan-or-ID age verification rollout anyway — before backing off after public backlash.

Discord is closed-source. You can't audit what it does with your messages, you can't self-host it, and every feature ships on their timeline, under their Terms of Service, which they can — and do — change unilaterally.
Monetization creeps into everything
Nitro upsells, sponsored "Quests" that track your activity to unlock rewards, and a business model that ultimately answers to investors — not to the servers actually using the product every day.
You never actually own it
Your server, your history, your community's data — all of it lives on someone else's infrastructure, subject to someone else's outages, moderation calls, and business decisions. If they go down, change course, or get acquired, you have no say.
What Weave gives you instead
Same shape as the chat app you know — voice rooms, text channels, screen share — minus everything you didn't sign up for.
Channel-isolated voice
Real voice rooms with full audio isolation — you only hear the people in your channel.
Text chat
Images, link previews, and paginated history — the essentials, without the noise.
Screen share with audio
Share your screen or webcam simultaneously, with real stereo audio — no watermarks, no caps.
Invite-only, always
No open sign-ups, no email required, no scraping bots. You control exactly who gets in.
Private ephemeral channels
Members can spin up invite-only rooms on demand. They self-destruct when everyone leaves — nothing lingers.
You hold the keys
Runs in Docker on your own machine — a Raspberry Pi is enough. Your data never leaves your hardware.
Free. Open source. Yours to run.
Weave is fully open source under a public repository — clone it, read every line, and host your own instance in under an hour. No paid tiers, no premium lock, no telemetry phoning home.
Built on Node.js and mediasoup (WebRTC SFU) · runs anywhere Docker runs, including a Raspberry Pi
